City of Toronto chooses Anaergia’s Technology for Organic Material Processing Facility
Anaergia Inc. has announced that it is part of a team led by W.S. Nicholls Construction Inc. and including the Ontario Clean Water Agency and exp Services Inc. that was selected by the City of Toronto to design, build, and operate the upgraded and expanded Dufferin Organics Processing Facility.
The original organics facility which had been built to process 25,000 tonnes of organic material annually, from the City’s Green Bin Program, will be upgraded with new processes and expanded to a capacity of 55,000 tonnes per year. Design and other pre-construction activity has already begun, and commissioning and commencement of processing operations is scheduled for mid-2018.
Anaergia will supply the expanded facility with all major processing equipment including two organic material preprocessing trains, each of which will have a range of equipment including Anaergia’s exclusive BIOREX system for separation of organic material and its Organic Polishing System to generate clean feedstock for anaerobic digestion. Anaergia will also supply a membrane bioreactor wastewater treatment system for centrate treatment utilizing FibrePlateTM membrane from Fibracast, an Anaergia subsidiary.
In addition to designing and supplying the major processing equipment for this facility, Anaergia will also operate and maintain it, in partnership with OCWA.
