Compost Council of Canada celebrates 25 years at 2015 Compost Conference

The Canadian composting industry met September 16-18, 2015, at the Crowne Plaza Gatineau-Ottawa, Gatineau, Québec, for the Compost Council of Canada's 25th Compost Conference. According to event host the Compost Council of Canada, this year's conference is built upon 25 years of advocacy, information sharing, networking and inspiration. The organization says that from an original gathering of diverse interests, a common cause was established - to create a national forum and council to advance the infrastructure of organics recycling across all levels of Canadian society. As the most recycled material in Canada, organic residuals offer the solution for waste diversion goals, climate change mitigation, local economic improvements and enhanced soil health organic residuals are the largest component of the waste stream. Their return to the earth through composting and anaerobic digestion is also fundamental to soil health and vitality. 

Visitors to this year's conference will learn about the latest developments and technology in organics recycling and compost markets, see organics recycling infrastructure in action, and gather with leading experts in the field. This year's show starts with an Organics Recycling 101 session and a range of presentations, trade show and  networking opportunities, including a series of plenary and concurrent sessions covering the full range of dynamics and issues pertaining to organics recycling, composting and anaerobic digestion.

For the past 25 years, the national organics recycling and compost conference of The Compost Council of Canada has served as the forum advocating and documenting the advances in programs, regulations, research, technology and markets to establish and sustain the organics recycling infrastructure across Canada.

Tours at this year's conference include: Lafleche Environmental's 120,000 tonnes per year composting facility, where Vermeer Canada will demonstrate their latest equipment for the industry; and Schouten Corner View Farms on-site anarobic digestion operation.
