GEEP partners with Rogers Centre to collect cell phones
GEEP (Global Electric Electronic Processing) Inc. is pleased to announce a recent partnership with Rogers Centre, home of the Toronto Blue Jays, to develop a cell phone collection and recycling program. The organization says not only will this program help to generate funds for “Jays Care Foundation”; but it is an easy and effective way to collect cell phones for environmentally responsible recycling.
There will be a number of cell phone collection bins placed throughout Rogers Centre where the public can place their old cell phones and know that they are helping a good cause, as well as diverting harmful e-waste from landfills.
Cell phones that are collected at Rogers Centre will be forwarded to GEEP’s headquarters in Barrie, Ontario for processing. Funds for the program will be generated by either reselling phones that have been wiped of all confidential data, or by recycling the phones for the intrinsic value of the metals. In addition to the cell phone collection bins, GEEP will also place e-waste collection cages at Rogers Centre, so that the facility and its employees have a place to bring their unwanted electronics for recycling.
