VB 1500DK designed for high-volume scrap metal pre-shredding

On display for the first time, this year at ISRI, Hammel’s new VB 1500DK Primary Shredder is designed for high volume scrap metal pre-shredding and is ideal for handling larger items including cars and car bodies, as well as aluminum profiles and bales, engine blocks, mixed and light scrap.

The 60-ton VB 1500DK is longer than the 950DK, the model which precedes it, with lengthened shafts and a planetary gearbox on both ends of the shafts, where previously there was only one. Additionally, a complete second set of hydraulics and a second C-18 engine is included on this new model to power the opposite side of the shafts.

According to Hammel, the VB 1500DK will shred a car body in approximately 20 seconds (up to 1/3 faster than the 950DK). These 60-ton units will also handle aluminum profiles and bales, engine blocks, mixed scrap and light metal scrap. The VB 1500DK features very high throughput in metal processing, a high mobility track system, and easy handling via mobile SPS.

Additional features include a double diesel-hydraulic drive; two-sided transmission for increased force; and a two-piece large-volume tilting hopper with separate controls.

Shredders, screens and complete processing plants from German-based Hammel Recyclingtechnik GmbH are distributed in Canada by CAN-CON Equipment and in the U.S. by Hammel New York, LLC.
