Thermal insulation derived from plastic bottles
Thermore HD-Green thermal insulation, which is comprised of a minimum of 70 percent recycled PET fibres derived from plastic bottles, is designed to be used in sleeping bags, and is now available in additional weights to best fit the end use and reduce weight.
HD-Green was first introduced in 2008, and was originally offered in a 120-gram weight designed to meet the specialized needs of the technical sleeping bag market. The product is now available in 65 and 90-gram weights, representing a higher level of performance, and offering the highest clo value per weight based on independent testing. (clo is a unit of measurement used to measure the thermal insulation of clothes and similar items.) “Many consider Thermore to be the technical leader in recycled thermal technology,” said Joe DiGirolamo, Thermore’s Director of Sales for North America. “Our HD-Green product takes our experience a step further and applies it to a market with very specialized needs.” HD-Green is designed to be exceptionally warm and soft with the highest thermal efficiency per unit of weight in the eco category. Its multi-layered construction offers excellent uniformity to help eliminate cold spots, and its exceptional water repellency makes it the perfect thermal insulation for even the most extreme conditions. Furthermore, the innovative bonding process used yields an insulation that has excellent multi-directional strength and durability.
HD-Green joins Thermore’s Rinnova 100%, a high-performance insulation made from 100 percent recycled PET fibres, and Rinnova, the original “green” insulation made from a blend of 50 percent recycled PET fibres and 50 percent standard polyester fibres.
