Merlo innovates and enlarges range of telehandlers
Newly arrived from Italy, the Panoramic 55.9CS Merlo features range of innovations

This new telehandler, with a capacity of 5,500kg (12,125lb) and a span of 9m (28 feet), is ideal for use in recycling centres, the agricultural sector and in the heavy construction industry. For those who want an alternative to the articulated wheel loader, the 55.9CS innovates by adding suspensions on strategic components which increases comfort, security and efficiency.
These units feature a telescopic boom with hydro-pneumatic BSS suspension, which is unique to Merlo. This lessens the impact of bumpy ground on the boom and the load, and means that during bucket work less is lost due to spillage during transport. Plus, there is less vibration on material transported with other attachments.
The cabin of the 55.9CS has an independent hydro-pneumatic suspension which increases the driver’s comfort by reducing stress and fatigue during long working periods, and ergonomic cabins are larger and have exceptional soundproofing. The Panoramic 55.9CS is powered by a DEUTZ 140-hp turbo motor, which is very economical fuel-wise. This machine also features all the characteristics of the exclusive Merlo range such as a full 3-inch anti-torsion steel belt, a class 1 hydrostatic transmission, 360-degree visibility and many other patented innovations.
With installations in Québec, Montréal and Toronto, Manulift EMI Ltée is the Canadian importer of Merlo products. In the last five years, more than 550 Merlo telehandlers have been sold in Canada. Several of the new Panoramic 55.9CS models have been delivered to Canadians so far this year.
