Rotor retrofittable into any autogenous VSI crusher
In 2002, Sandvik introduced its line of autogenous VSI (Vertical Shaft Impactor) crushers. This technology uses a rock-lined rotor to accelerate material which is then impacted in a highly energized rock-lined crushing chamber. The company has now introduced their autogenous Hurricane VSI rotor. Four new rotor and wear parts design patents are pending, and with the company’s Rotor Retrofit Programme it is possible for users of various makes of autogenous VSI crushers to incorporate this new rotor into their existing machines. “Among other major advantages, the characteristics of our new design have given reduced vibration levels inside the crusher,” says Gareth Orritt, Sandvik Mining and Construction. “Together with the weight, some 25 percent below all other competitors, the need for service is also reduced.” Key features of the Hurricane VSI rotor include: increased crusher availability and reduced maintenance; lower operating costs; increased rotor throughput up to 30 percent for the same power draw; increased discharge height; and fewer wear parts required, reducing total weight.
