Used oil boiler recycles 3.6 gallons per hour
The CB-500-CTB used oil coil tube boiler is designed to recycle large volumes of used oil (3.6 gallons per hour). In addition to recycling used oil, these units will produce hot water for in-floor, baseboard and space heating, as well as for ice-melt applications. “Industry demand for a larger boiler drove Clean Burn to develop and introduce the CB-500-CTB unit,” says Clean Burn CEO Michael Shirk. “Companies producing large amounts of waste oil and requiring hot water, such as construction companies, heavy equipment operators, fl eet contractors and car wash facilities, have requested this expanded unit size to handle the large heating loads required for bigger buildings.” The CB-500-CTB has an input rating of 500,000 btu, weighs 1,600 pounds and can heat an area of more than 12,000 square feet. The unit has a low-mass design which holds just 20.6 gallons of water, yet 37 gallons-per-minute fl ow through the coil.

Ryan Tanner owner of Outback Express Lube & Wash in Hinton, Alberta recently purchased a CB-500-CTB. “The (CB-500-CTB) boiler is working very good for us so far,” he said. “It’s providing enough energy right now for us to heat hot water for our truck wash and heat our 12,000 square foot building.” According to Clean Burn, there are 80,000 of the company’s functional furnaces and boilers throughout the world that burn approximately 120 million gallons of used oil each year on-site, at the point of generation. This volume of used oil would otherwise be transported on highways and would pose a considerable risk of spills, and environmental contamination.
