Magnetic system separates three metals simultaneously

Magnetic system separates three metals simultaneously
Dutch manufacturer, Goudsmit Magnetic Systems BV, has recently designed and produced a compact unit that combines a conventional magnetic separator, high-gradient separator and non-ferrous separator. This three-stage machine removes normal iron parts, followed by weakly magnetic metal parts (including a large variety of stainless steels), and finally non-ferrous metal parts. This all takes place over a distance of approximately seven metres. Incorporating all three stages in a single compact unit makes it easy to integrate the separator into existing processing lines. This simplifies collection and disposal of the various metal fractions. This compact separator has recently been installed in a WEEE scrap recycling line in the UK.

The system is specifically built for the recycling industry and intended for use in severe and dirty working environments. The three-stage separator is available with a working width of up to 2,000 mm, which allows large quantities of waste to be processed. The complete system consists of a base frame, a vibrating grating, a control unit, and the three-stage separator. The separator consists of a conventional Neoflux end-roll magnet for the first stage, a high-gradient end-roll magnet for the second stage, and an eddy-current separator for the third stage.
