Wayne Engineering is an industry leading manufacturer of automated refuse collection vehicles. It’s flagship model, the Curbtender, has been in production for over 30 years and continues to be on the forefront of innovations. The Curbtender is a high compaction ASL with a wide range of platforms, including: CNG, LNG, HLA, Tip to Dump, Recycling, Full Eject, and 21-31 cubic yard bodies. The truck also features the industry’s strongest arm which has a 2,000 lb capacity. This ensures the arm is never collecting trash “at capacity” and can therefore last years longer than the competition. Wayne Engineering also manufactures the Titan front loader, Phoenix rear loader, Tom Cat manual side loader, and Quantum small rear loader.
The compact PUP side loader literally packs a ton. Units fit on a conventional one-ton truck, and are ideal for routes where larger loaders can’t go or are not practical, such as in parks and on recreation grounds, at beaches and resorts, campuses, zoos, or in mobile home parks.
Wayne Engineering’s new small body rear loader, the Quantum, can be equipped to handle one to six cubic yard commercial containers without any expensive alterations to the tailgate. It features a unique packing mechanism with a packer plate that sweeps the entire 70-inch wide tailgate and yields high compaction ratings of 800 to 900 pounds per cubic yard. The Quantum has the lightest body in its class and is available in 6 to 10 cubic yard models. Speed, agility and excellent weight distribution characterize the Quantum, making it ideal for collecting in tight, congested locations as well as high-mileage, low-density routes. Options include a single or dual cart tipper, container roll bar or winches, and a rear view colour camera system.
Wayne Engineering’s complete line of small, fast-loading, fast-cycling refuse bodies includes rear and side loaders. The Super Series rear loader is available in six- to eight-yard body sizes with 10-second packing cycles. The Wayne TomCat side loader offers six- to 14-yard bodies for use in manual or semi-automated collections. The TomCat is also ideal as a satellite unit with its hydraulic body lift that allows for clean load transfers into larger rear loaders.
Ideal for collecting in areas with longer distances between each collection, these small-body rear loaders and side loaders are designed for fast loading and cycling and feature high levels of maneuverability and exceptional fuel efficiency. The Super series rear loader is available in six- to eight-yard body sizes with 10-second packing cycles, and the TomCat side loader (shown here) offers six- to 14-yard bodies for use in manual or semi-automated collection.
The TomCat high-compaction side loader is designed as a solution to the growing demand for more fuel-efficient collection of both solid waste and recyclables. As a lighter-weight, small-bodied manual side loader, the TomCat can be mounted on lighter-weight chassis that employ more fuel-efficient engines. Available in 6-, 8-, 10-, 12-, and 14-yard bodies, the TomCat features a high-compaction rated body with an ultra-high strength-to-weight ratio. Fast cycling times of 14-16 seconds, along with load-and-pack operation, help speed collection times, and units can be manually loaded from both sides, or equipped with a semi-automated cart dumping option. Compaction can also be operator-controlled to allow for recyclable collecting.
