Wastequip is set to launch RockBox, a new ultra-heavy-duty roll-off container that combines extreme toughness and durability in a lighter-weight container. Made from wear resistant Hardox steel, the new roll-off containers are four times stronger than ordinary mild steel grades, while weighing 20 percent less and lasting twice as long as traditional heavy-duty roll-off containers. Wastequip's new hard and tough roll-off containers will be the first of their kind in the United States to be made of the innovative Hardox material. With more than 620,000 visitors from over 200 countries, bauma 2019, the world's leading trade fair for construction machinery, building material machines, mining machines, construction vehicles and construction equipment, generated the best results in the exhibition's 65-year history. The number of visitors rose by about 40,000 over the total produced during the previous event in 2016. More than 250,000 visitors came from countries outside Germany. The top 10 visitor countries after Germany were: Austria, Italy, Switzerland, France, the Netherlands, Russia, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Poland and Great Britain. The trade fair also experienced a strong increase in attendance from overseas visitors. Significant gains in this group were produced by China, Australia and Japan. More than 5,500 visitors came from China alone. The number of exhibitors totaled about 3,700 from 63 countries - likewise a record.

Within the automotive recycling industry there is growing concern about future economic developments, according to a survey of participants at the International Automobile Recycling Congress, IARC 2019, taking place this week, March 20-22, in Vienna. The survey shows that around 38 per cent expect economic conditions for the automotive recycling industry to deteriorate over the next two years. A similarly high percentage, however, think business will remain stable. Only just over one quarter of those surveyed expect economic conditions to improve.

Refuse and recyclable material collectors rank fifth on the U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics' list of most dangerous jobs. In 2017, the National Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries identified 30 fatalities among these collectors. This year, in January alone, 17 fatal incidents have occurred in the solid waste industry in the United States and Canada, with two taking place in New York.
