The new Cat S2000/S3000 Series mobile shears, designed for hydraulic excavators working in scrap and demolition applications, feature optimum force-to-weight ratios that yield faster cycle times and more cuts per hour, compared with predecessor models S340B, S365C and S385C. Built with added strength and jaw protection features, the new models can be boom or stick mounted and are available in both straight (S2050, S2070, S2090) and 360-degree rotating (S3050, S3070, S3090) configurations. Designed specifically for bulk material handling and scrap recycling applications, the new Cat MH3295 Material Handler is designed for high production, with an operating weight in its heaviest configuration of 219,056 pounds (99 362 kg) and developing 533 net-flywheel horsepower (397 kW). According to Cat, who will show the new model at this year's ISRI 2016, impressively built mainframes and track-roller frames combine with a choice of two heavy-duty front linkages (barge and scrap) to ensure reliable performance and long-term durability. The MH3295’s powerful hydraulic system is designed for precise, responsive control, and the hydraulic cab-to-ground riser provides optimum safety for the operator.

Caterpillar to end production of on-highway vocational trucks

Caterpillar Inc. has announced it will discontinue production of its on-highway vocational trucks. Based on the current business climate in the truck industry and a thorough evaluation of the business, the company decided it would withdraw from this market. This is also in line with the company’s ongoing restructuring to align its businesses with existing conditions. As a result of this action, the company will cease taking new orders for vocational trucks, although Caterpillar remains committed to existing truck customers and will support the existing trucks currently on the road.

Caterpillar names Rimco official dealer for Cuba

Caterpillar Inc. has announced that it has selected Rimco, a privately owned Puerto Rico-based company, to be the Cat dealer for Cuba. Currently, Rimco serves as the Cat dealer for Puerto Rico and the Eastern Caribbean. Upon easing of trade restrictions, customers in Cuba will be able to purchase Cat products through Rimco in accordance with U.S. and Cuba regulations.
