Zach Mallin wins the ISRI 2024 Young Executive of the Year Award

ISRI has named Zach Mallin as the recipient of its 2024 Young Executive of the Year Award. Mallin was selected due to his numerous contributions and accomplishments within ISRI and the recycled materials industry. 

"Zach embodies the qualities of the Young Executive of the Year Award and continually demonstrates his desire to help lead the recycled materials industry into the future," said ISRI President Robin Wiener. "ISRI is pleased to present this important award to Zach in recognition of his outstanding leadership, initiative, vision, and in his commitment to advocating for the recycled materials industry with policymakers."

Mallin is a fourth-generation recycler and currently vice president of Mallin Companies, Inc., which has served Kansas City, Missouri for more than 96 years. He learned about the recycled materials industry from the ground up while working at Mallin each summer during college.

He graduated with a degree in business from the University of Missouri. Zach has served many leadership roles within ISRI, including service on ISRI's Board of Directors as Mid-America Chapter president, and ISRI's Young Executive Council. He also held membership roles on ISRI's Council of Chapter Presidents, Membership Committee, Finance Committee, and Government Relations Committee. Zach is also a former chapter vice president, treasurer, and secretary.

"I am truly honoured to receive the award of ISRI's Young Executive of the Year," said Mallin. "This award is unique and is appreciated to the utmost. Earning this recognition reinforces my drive and commitment to the industry and my fellow young executives. This experience will continue to motivate me to promote and advocate for our industry and our trade association. Moving forward I wish to drive my fellow young executives to dedicate their time to our cause and to move our professional careers in a positive way to impact our industry. I cannot thank my peers and colleagues enough for this prestigious award, and I look forward to growing our careers within our industry."

According to his colleagues, Mallin can empower employees in individual ways, helping each person understand how important their role is to the organization. He also can streamline efforts and seek the best products. 

In addition to his dedication to the recycled materials industry, Mallin is involved in community service activities. He is active within the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity and has served as chair of several major charitable fundraising events in his community, including KC Hospice and Palliative Care.

ISRI's Young Executive of the Year Award was created to promote the accomplishments of successful, young professionals in the recycled materials industry by highlighting their contributions and dedication, along with a high degree of leadership potential. The award will be presented to Mallin on Thursday, April 18, as part of the ISRI2024 Convention & Exposition in Las Vegas, Nevada.
