Fire Rover's Ryan Fogelman has released the 7th Annual Reported Waste & Recycling Facility Fires in the US/CAN. The report analyzes trends among the reported fires that happened in 2023 from lithium-ion battery fires, including the causes, prevention and response, and solutions regarding these fires.

According to the report, the amount of lithium-ion battery fires has decreased since 2022. Fogelman says that this decrease feels like a turning point for battery fire prevention, yet despite the decrease, there are still some increases in certain categories. Fogelman writes that one worrying trend is that at U.S. and Canadian waste and recycling facilities, the number of reported lithium-ion fires across the past three years has reached a new high.

The report also highlights the performance of Fire Rover's early-detection fire response solutions. This performance data was gathered across two years and highlights fires responded to, the number of pressurization, the number of fires suppressed, and the number of fire brigade dispatches.

The report can be read online here or a physical copy can be ordered from Amazon. All proceeds of the physical copy will be donated to firefighting charities.
