E-scrap processing equipment

E-scrap processing equipment

In 2011, Cambridge, Ontario-based Shred-Tech designed and installed several modular processing lines for the reduction and separation of consumer and industrial e-wastes. According to the company, the partial disassembly of e-wastes up front is typically the key to higher processing rates and better final materials separation.

Shred-Tech e-Waste processing equipment ranges from 25-hp units for hard drives all the way up to ST-1200/ST-500 combo shredders for high volume, high tonnage applications. Smaller, modular units are also available for three- to five-ton per hour systems.

E-waste systems include an ST-100 (100 hp) slow speed, two-shaft primary shredder combined with an STQ-150 (150 hp) slow speed four-shaft secondary shredder, which keeps the total plant requirement, including all separating equipment, at well under 225 kW (300 hp).

Complete systems include a variable speed feed conveyor, a discharge conveyor manual pick line, a variable speed secondary shredder feed conveyor, vibratory screener for fine removal, as well as cross belt magnets and an Eddy Current. Systems process in excess of three tons per hour, to a final shred size of approximately 1½ inches, with separations of steel, aluminum and a mixed stream of red metals/circuit boards and plastics. Optional sorting equipment can also be added to further refine this mixed stream for the removal of all metals.

In addition to in-plant systems, Shred-Tech designs and manufactures Mobile Shredding Trucks, capable of destroying high volumes of confidential documents, as well as digital media and hard drives.
